Paintball Frequently Asked Questions
General Paintball Park FAQ
Yes! Believe it or not, paintball is one of the safest recreational sports you can play. Paintball is statistically safer (aka higher risk of injury) than playing any major sport (football, basketball etc.), cheerleading, skiing, or even bowling!
As long as you follow our strict safety rules, which we will explain upon arrival, paintball is completely safe, no need to worry! LVL UP Sports enforces the strictest safety standards in the paintball industry.
Paintballs are designed to be as pain-less as possible! We like to compare it to getting flicked with a rubber band. As long as you have your arms & legs covered with pants and a long sleeve t-shirt, you’ll be A-OK. Paintballs do have an impact when they splat, it’s the only way to make paintball such a unique, adrenaline pumping activity! The trick is, the more layers you wear, the less impact the paintballs have.
We also have a new “Low-Impact Paintball” option. It’s the same price, the paintballs are just smaller! Great for first timers and young ones. You can choose Low Impact paintballs when making any private party reservation.
Every game of paintball is unique. Depending on which map you’re playing on, and which type of game you’re playing, games can last between 10-20minutes.
Most visitors will spend between 1-3 hours at LVL UP Sports.
How long you’ll stay depends on whether or not you have ammo (paintballs) to play with. We estimate you’ll shoot around 100 paintballs per game, but that can vary a lot depending on the player! If you run out of ammo during the day, you can either return your equipment and head home, or you can always purchase more paintballs from the proshop and continue playing as long as you like!
There are two ways to play paintball at LVL UP Sports:
PRIVATE GROUPS: When you book a group, you and your friends / family will only play games with yourselves. You will play different games on different maps throughout the day, anytime you go on to a map you’ll have it all to yourselves! Private groups require a reservation, click the Book Online button below any package here. Ages 8+
PUBLIC GAMES AKA OPEN PLAY: Perfect for solos or groups of any size, public games are open to any customers without a reservation every Saturday and Sunday! All walk-in players are mixed together to form one big group for epic big games all day long! Please arrive between 11:30am – 2:30pm to check in. Ages 10+
Minimum age for traditional paintball is 10+ (available for private groups and walk-in public games)
Minimum age for Low Impact paintball is 8+ (available for private groups only, reservation required)
For our safety and yours, all players are required to fill out a waiver to play paintball or airsoft at LVL UP Sports. Our waiver is 100% digital (no need to print) and can be filled out ahead of your visit right here. Parents (or someone over 18) must sign all minor’s waivers.
We recommend wearing long pants, long sleeves, old shoes, and a beanie or hat. The paintball splats will wash out of your clothes, but your knees and elbows will definitely touch the ground, we’d hate for you to get grass stains on your nice jeans!
Our facility is all outdoors, so if it’s rained recently there will most likely be mud out on the playing fields and in the woods. We recommend wearing waterproof boots, especially during wet seasons!
Unless the weather is dangerous, you can always expect us to be open. Paintball is super fun in the rain, we even play in the snow! If the weather is extreme and making conditions impossible to play in, we will of course allow you to reschedule your private group reservation.
For the average paintball player in Columbus Ohio, you can expect to pay between $35 – $55 per player. The main difference in cost per player is how many paintballs you shoot throughout the day. Some players are more aggressive, sneaky, and like to make their shots count. Others like to stay in the back and cover their friends with a heavy-gunner attitude. The more you shoot, the more ammo you’ll need to purchase throughout the day.
